The choice of cremation has steadily increased during the last 20 years in the United States, with only burial being somewhat more common. Families choose cremation for a loved one based upon reasons ranging from personal preference and cost to religious beliefs and ethnic customs.
Typically, there is a waiting period between the time of death and cremation during which your funeral director handles the necessary authorization process.
Once we, here at the Koller Funeral Home and Cremation Center in York, PA, receive notification of death, we arrange for cremation with the trusted local crematory that we always utilize unless you have a different preference.
Koller Funeral Home personnel always accompany the body to the crematory and participate in the preparation and cremation process. We handle everything for you and see that ultimately the remains of your loved one are returned safely to your hands.
If you have chosen to have a Visitation / Viewing and/or Funeral ceremony prior to the cremation, we will assist with all arrangements and then handle the cremation subsequently.
Following cremation, your funeral director here at the Koller Funeral Home and Cremation Center can assist you if you wish to either bury your loved ones cremated remains – perhaps in a family plot – or have them placed in the urn of your choice and kept at a columbarium (much like a mausoleum but for cremated remains). We will aos advise you on other options such as scattering the remains and let you know of any local regulations.
Whatever your needs and wishes, the staff at the Koller Funeral Home and Cremation Center is here to support and assist you and see to any needs you might have. Please feel free to contact us to discuss cremation options any time.
