Many families are choosing to prearrange because
it gives the opportunity to plan the kind of funeral you want. At Koller Funeral Home
and Cremation Center Inc., we know that it can relieve surviving family members of the burden and
responsibility of making decisions during a difficult and emotional time. In addition,
some families take comfort knowing that their loved one's funeral reflects his or her own
wishes.

You can begin to explore your pre-planning
options by completing our online Pre-Planning Questionnaire
or complete our offline Pre-Planning Questionnaire. In
addition, the following provides an overview of options available.
Pre-funding a funeral offers
you the advantage of paying for your funeral ahead of time, relieving your family of any
possible financial burden later. Prefunding is not for everyone, however, it makes good
sense if you do not already have funds set aside for such a situation.
The laws covering these financial arrangements
vary from state to state. So there are several questions to ask if you decide to pre-fund
your funeral. Some questions are: Is pre-payment refundable in part or full? What happens
if I change my mind about pre-arrangements or simply choose to go to another funeral home?
Does the prepayment cover any cost increases later? Who receives the interest on the
account? These are all important questions to consider when prearranging and/ or
pre-funding for a funeral.
At the Koller Funeral Home
and Cremation Center Inc. we
take pride in the fact that our Pre-need Programs are approved through the PA
State Board of Funeral Directors and the PA Insurance Department. We are
highly regulated in what we do with your funds.
With our Pre-need Program, you can designate the
funds as revocable or irrevocable.
You can cancel the prearrangement and have the funds returned to you if the account is
revocable, or you can choose to have funds irrevocable so that funds cannot be touched
until death and can not be returned. The irrevocable option is often chosen because the
funds are then protected from nursing homes, etc. and the funds can only be used for
funeral expenses. Even if you choose for an account to be irrevocable, with our program
you can change the name of the funeral home that you wish to use for whatever reason.
As the price of funerals rise, your money is
earning interest which is applied toward the cost of the
funeral. At the time of death, if the policy did not earn enough to cover expenses, you
pay nothing additional to the funeral home. The only possible additional expense would
be to the cemetery for the grave opening because cemeteries have different fees for
weekends and holidays. It is important to note that if the account earns more
interest than needed at the time of death, we return those funds to the family.
Preplanning is a simple matter to arrange and is
one of the most important things that you can do for yourself and your family. Preplanning
can be done with or without pre-funding.
You can begin the pre-planning process right now
