Helping With Healing

You hear it all the time:  well-meaning people saying “If you need anything at all, just let me know”.  Although most people who say this are sincere, the bereaved family then has the burden of the contact to ask for help; and, of course, they usually will not do so.

A far more thoughtful approach is to offer your help in a very specific way.  Here at the Koller Funeral Home and Cremation Center we offer the following suggestions to guide you if you are inclined to give a gift of your time to the bereaved family during the time they need it most.

  • Handle child care at the visitation or service
  • Offer to provide care for household pets
  • Cook meals
  • Pass along funeral details to family/friends
  • Handle telephone duty
  • Provide transportation and run errands
  • Help with household tasks
  • Serve as a companion to elderly visitors
